“Spoilers!” said Ryan, shutting the diary and holding it out of Connor’s reach. “Peaking is cheating.”

“You read it. That’s not fair.”

“Pouting won’t work but I could be distracted in other ways.” Ryan let his hand drift suggestively downwards.

“Distraction sounds good,” agreed Connor moving closer and dropping to his knees. “Better than arguing.”

Ryan wasn’t fooled. Connor would certainly try for the diary later. Ryan would have to work quickly to destroy the volume.

This was a future. It wasn’t certain. Still, Ryan wished he had not grabbed the diary. Some things it was better not to know.
