Jess widened her eyes and tried to look innocent. On anyone else it would have worked brilliantly but Lester merely stared back and surreptitiously unbuttoned his jacket.
“I know what you’re doing, Jess, and it’s got to stop.”
“I’m not doing any harm,” protested Jess. “People are happy. I’ve never seen Becker so relaxed. Matt actually smiled. And--”
She faltered. Lester continued as if uninterrupted. “This temperature isn’t appropriate to a working environment. Whatever you’ve done to the thermostat undo it.”
“Fine,” Jess agreed, sulkily, “But at least let me keep it until after the beach party this afternoon.”
