Merlin Fic: A Life Worth Less (Merlin, Arthur PG-13)

Oct 19, 2008 17:47

In my new, alternate reality I have purchased a house on Wisteria Lane. It has a very nice pool. I like to lounge on a deck chair drinking champagne, wearing a tarty dress and admiring my improbably high heels. Merlin  and Arthur are my cabana boys...

So I've written a story. It's pretty crappy since it's so long since I tried anything of the sort, ( Read more... )

merlin, fic, merlin/arthur

I actually read this on Fanfiction.net and I enjoy reading it. It's fascinated the relation between Arthur and his father, his peer and Merlin. I love that you show Arthur being somehow King-like in the duel.

write any more?

Glad you liked it. I do like the way Arthur is portrayed as being a good fighter and would hate it if the series went solely with Merlin's magic saving the day. MMmm, yes, Arthur/Uther is just wonderfully squishy and intense.

I liked this a lot. I feel like you got the relationships right, which is impressive, given how little has aired so far. Thumbs up!

There were a couple of typos (you had "is" instead of "if" somewhere, and a random period in the middle of a sentence).

Thanks - I really wanted to (try and) catch the voices. Plus extra thanks for the typo tip-off - since they annoy me immensely as a reader. Will try and have another pass through a catch a few more. A

This is one of the least crappiest fics I've read, so shut up! Seriously, this is really good. There's so much in it - Uther's faults but at his heart, affection for his son, and a really good demonstration of life in Camelot, and it's also really funny and touching.

And this:

“Modesty is over-rated,” replies the prince, seriously. “There’s no arrogance in knowing your talents.” His mood switches suddenly, bright blue eyes stare into Merlin’s own. “You think that colour’s attractive? I don’t. I like dark hair.” He adds abruptly, “And someone with a mind of their own.”

That's genius!

Loved this, thank you for posting it on LJ!

Ah, thanks! I so wanted to get into a position where I could slash them but it just would have been totally forced. I am fairly sure that Merlin persaudes Gaius to lend him the money to buy Arthur's ring with the excuse that it'll be too well-known to sell or sommut.

OMG The father-son interaction was just heart wrenching! I've been trying to find fics that show Uther's well hidden love for his son and this was just perfect!

Please write another one!!!

(This is so going into my mems!)

I love Arthur/Uther together they're so very, very intense. And although Uther can act like a knob and gives his son a hard time you just know that for the last 20-odd years he's been a total workplace bore at any king-type gatherings boasting about his amazingly talented and wonderful boy who one day is going to be the best ruler evah! **Adores them**
