well well well.

good old livejournal. good old coming back to livejournal for a romp every 5 months.

romp city.

general life update:

well, it's pretty alright i guess. regular uni thing happening. regular artistic endeavours continually time-consuming. i've just applied for a position to direct the university arts festival - big budget, many events and a marketing team?? indeed. which would be fun.
still living in delicious newtown house, which became seedily infested with 1000000 german cockroaches which proceeded to then die in piles of 10000 on the kitchen floor. we had to wade through the carcuses. it was UNPLEASANT.

it was soph's 21st yesterday and she didnt answer her phone. she didnt answer her phone today either. i hope she was alright. i'm heading down the melbourne at the end of may to see her. it will have been about 6 months since i've seen her... these things are a bit ridiculous, but, you know, you can't do anything about it. especially if you're lazy.

life is odd at the moment. my two flatmates, claire and adam, who are my bestest pals and i love dearly, are hardcore studious. claire, doing honours, and adam catching up with his vet degree after getting galndular.
and i'm in regular 'my degree take about 10 hours a week and not muh more' mode. spending most of my time going to see plays, drinking wine and being confused about my relationships with friends that cross over into other things. confusing things.

when uni breaks this semester, i'll be writing a show with another couple of friends in a funded project called 'underbelly' in a new warehouse theatre near redfern. it's a beautiful space called carriageworks, used to be a place where people built trains. it's huge and aesthetically enchanting and has a lot of character.
a girl who got kicked out of vca and two guys i wrote a show with last year will be writing with me, and we only get one weekend to perform and about a month to put the project together.
writing with those guys is so good though, exactly the type of shows i love making.
they are funny and nostalgic and we often play children and cockney geezers and animals. we like making shows that are silly and funny and make you want to cry because they are tragically black in humour or too beautiful to handle. it's a nice thing to be involved with.

also, after the show, we are going to go to the blue mountains and take a whole lot of lsd and get naked.

i am still reading like a big fat book whore. when i went to asia, it was hardcore book consumption. a couple of books a week. nothing could quench my book thirst.
it's slowing now because there are more human distractions but better book choice in newtown, where the book shops stay open as late as the porno palace and the pubs.

my friend wrote a show and it's on now too, and an old director from newcastle has a show that's just opened that has already been hailed a masterpiece of new sydney theatre. i am glad for them both. i am eager to get back to writing and being on stage. a bunch of my friends went to the adelaide fringe festival with a show they prepared while i was in asia and didnt audition for. regretful, but i did go to asia.

was on the phone to my mate zita tonight, who was over in south east asia at the same time as met, who i met up with about three times in various countries.
we were eating happy cow cheese (the only cheese available in asia) and draught beer that cost 50c a jug, and it was raining in hoi an, vietnam. we were in a little restaurant drinking and watching the water rising rapidly in the river outside. boats were starting to flop onto the road beside the river and floated towards where we sat on 'dry land'. you could see water marks all the way up to the ceiling of the restaurant where the place had been flooded during wet season. we waded our way back to the hostel. past the hundreds of tailoring shops where white boys were being fitted for cheaps suits and girls were being convinced to make another skirt, another blouse, and why not an evening gown too?

i'm starting to read up about my next trip at the end of the year. my mum wants to have a christmas overseas, so we're all going to france i think. it'll be nice staying somewhere for a few weeks with mum and dad, then i will head through france, italy, spain and finish up in morocco. trying to get my head around all these places is really challenging since i hardly know anything about them. i will learn!

i'm finally ready for bed after a very boring night in tonight. my little friend who i'm not sure is my friend or the person i am in love with had a 21st to go to so i was all alone tonight.

tomorrow will be better though.
