discussion post 05

It's that time again, friends. Sorry for the day's delay again; I should mention that due to my fluctuating schedule (two jobs makes for random hours) sometimes discussions will go up on Thursdays, not Wednesdays, but it should basically always be one of those two days.

Anyway-- this week we'll be chatting about plot devices and story tropes you find yourselves gravitating towards. I mean ways of constructing a story, plot elements etc, that you are especially attracted to and/or find yourselves using and reusing in your writing; I also mean in a vaguer sense, when you reach a sticking point with your plotting, are there specific tropes or plot devices you turn to to get over your writer's blocks?

Feel free to use tvtropes.org, but it's not at all necessary (and beware, lol, that site is a time-suck; once you start clicking you may never be seen again). What I'm wondering, and wanting you guys to examine, is what sorts of events and themes you use to drive your plots, and maybe why. However it strikes you to answer this, have fun with it.

Bi-weekly check-in post is next up. Hope you guys are having a good week. :)
