We sat close together, separated by an unusually tall rectangular glass table, knees almost touching, with arms perched and cards in hand as luck traced our fingertips, some more defined than others.
Shit Head and Lady Luck never saw eye to eye.
It was 3 hours into 2011 and I thought, with these 5s, 6s and 8s I am going to be the next Shit Head. it's 2011 and my luck is still rotten as hell.
Then, the tables turned.
2010 wasn't the best of all years but it was when I learned that (as cliche as it sounds) life deals us all sorts of cards and knowing when to fold is just as important as winning a game and even more important when the stakes are raised. It was a year without strong footholds as I followed on more than I followed through and was easily whisked away with much frivolity.
Then, the tables turned.
