Canon: Dance in the Vampire Bund
Character: Saegusa, Yuki
Timeline: Post-series (anime only)
Personality: Saegusa Yuki is what one would assume to be a typical, quiet high school student. A bit of a day dreamer and romantic, but otherwise she is very level-headed. As a member of the student council she holds many responsibilities, often times even being looked up to by a number of the students of the school. She is also very easy to embarrass, as seen from the exposure of her secret of writing boy love novels or when dealing with her emotions when put on the spot-light. This has become the source of loving teases from her friends that turns her face all the more red before she buries her face in her hands.
The most notable characteristic about Yuki however is her heart. She looks beyond the surface of a person to see who they really are. And while she will make judgments of a person like any other person, she will talk to them and give them a second opinion. Her kind words are shared with any who are willing listen and has been the source of wise advice when the chips are down.
More importantly, though, is how loyal and devoted she is to the ones she loves. She has stood beside Akira and Mina when the school was recovering from the vampire attack. Yuki remained as a close friend to Nanami even after all the trouble that she was involved in after becoming a vampire. When Akira was being hunted down by the Three Clans' assassins she prayed for his safe return. When Mina was subjected to the shame of the chastity test she held the vampire queen in her arms to comfort her.
Background: As an only child, Yuki lives with only her mother who is, at times, away on business trips. But from what is seen of the girl, Yuki seems to be doing just fine. There is no mention of the father implying that he is either dead or simply not in the picture. She gets along well and is a intelligent student at her school, a member of the Student Council even.
When her confessions of her feelings for Akira were turned down Yuki was, needless to safe, embarrassed and a little upset by this. She remained by his side though as a friend after words and worked to put her feelings behind her. She even went as far as presenting to him a silver ring as a symbol of their friendship. A promise that no matter happens the two would always be dear friends. And for a little while things were all right. It wasn't until Akira left for reasons unknown to her did things suddenly change drastically.
Upon his return it was revealed that the boy had lost his memories. Of course this worried Yuki to no end but with this came a true test of character. With the silver ring in his hand Akira asked Yuki if they were, in fact, together. She could have said yes. The thought had crossed her mind countless of times after everything but the girl buried her feelings and told him the truth. And ever since she has stayed by his side in hopes of him recovering his memories and aiding him in anyway possible, including bringing him bento lunches or listening to his troubled worries. But that was not all of the changes that was in store for her. No, not at all. One year later the announcement of vampires being real was to be and that Akira, her dearest friend, was the servant of the queen of vampires. A girl by the name of Mina Tepes.
Originally wary and skeptical of the girl when she starts attending the school, Yuki is originally a part of the group that is determined to out all vampires and have them removed from the school. Come the attack of vampires on herself and classmates under the guise of a trap involving their student council president, Nanami, a whole new side of the story is revealed to her. Seeing the devotion and love that Akira and Mina share for another it is then that the girl finally locks away her feelings forever for the werewolf. As the only surviving member of the student council after the vampire attack at the school Yuki was the one to take on the responsibilities of all positions. While this turn of events seemed to be too big of a task for the teenager it was in this that a once fearful and troubled view of Mina Tepes was proven wrong. In its place Yuki found herself befriending the queen and seeing that there was more to her than most saw. And while she knew Akira and Mina were always to be that didn't stop the girl from being such a close companion of the pair.
Abilities/Additional Notes: Yuki possesses no special abilities. Out of everyone in the series, she is one of the most normal ones around as a human. She seems to have a flair for writing boy love novels though.
