#books: Never thought I would enjoy reading on my tablet as much as I do. The thought of carrying a whole library with me (potentially) is also comforting. I've been slowly rereading The Lions of Al-Rassan (high fantasy set in a version of Moorish Spain) on these sunless days, enjoying its deliberate restraint in pacing and its slow, almost meditative unfolding. And then I got bored and had to throw in the The Crown of Embers (sequel to The Girl of Fire and Thorns ya fantasy with female lead, also set in a castellano-inspired world, also very good) to not start skipping pages. Also rereading God's War and Infidel in preparation for Rapture and am surprised to find Infidel much more toned down in terms of violence than I remember. I seem to gravitate towards hot, sunny settings in my literature in winter, no wonder I've had the urge to reread Dune. Must invest in a light therapy lamp.

#sciency books: Took a break from analysing apocalyptic population discourses and eugenic pamphlets by reading about survival of trauma and sexual violence and commodification of the body. So far I've ploughed through Aftermath: Violence and the Remaking of Self (Brison), Esclavas del Poder (Cacho), The Industrial Vagina: The Political Economy of the Global Sex Trade (Jeffreys) and The Truth behind the Fantasy of Porn (Lubben) in the hopes that I can somehow support my hypothesis (and finish building my theory, oh my!) that the disassociation of self - inflicted by trauma - is actively encouraged for some groups of population (women, woc in particular) by society to facilitate the commodification of the body while simultaneously embodying them (sexualizing/hyper-sexualizing the body). This discrepancy leads yet to more trauma (as in "unspeakable experiences/experiences outside the human frame of reference") and to an easier commodification of bodies which somehow ties into biopolitics but mostly has this feeling of "how the fuck did I end up on the micro-level of analysis again?". That's a bit like waking up after a party with somebody's purse on your head and a half-eaten donut in your hand. Anyway, I might turn back to the apocalyptic narratives of WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THIS EARTH HELP THE WHITE ESTABLISHMENT IS LOSING POWER for today because that is actually less depressing.

#Weiß Kreuzmas: A plan is in place, the chronology is hashed out, now I just have to write this sucker.

Er, I had more, but blogging time has run out.
