I haven't spent my days
in dim lit coffee shops
or dust ridden dives
at the nub of the bar
scribbling my thoughts
and hiding between the pages
of this notebook,
or that journal.
no, I've been on beaches,
and in jungles,
vacationing in the recesses
of my child-like wonderment,
falling in love with the world
ten times over
and still, over again.
I've been screaming at the sun,
"BURN ME with everything you have! I can take it all and STILL want more!"
and I've been parading with beasts
leading the charade
matchstick in hand
calling out to all who will listen
"Come! Live! FEAST!"
You won't find my passion
buried at the bottom
of some unknown cellar.
You'll find it here, with me,
pinned wildly to my sleeve
short of breathe
and ready for the second round
of what tomorrow
will lay before me
poetry
