a book everyone should read by gore vidal. wow. it opened my eyes immensly. then i saw a great flick....dead man walking with sean penn. intense. i can now say that i am really in doubt. i question nearly everything. i wonder what we look like from an unbiased far away view. are they laughing? crying? not understanding what it is that makes us tick in a strange, yet so obviously calculated hateful manner. we are a people who decide that an animal tastes good. people like this animal. we should prepare the animal in a way that makes it easy for people to cook. we have an opportunity to own these animals, mate them, raise them, kill them and sell them. but wait a second....an old man asks...this doesn't taste like the ham my ma prepared when i was a child on the farm. nothing of the sort. well that's because the pig your eatin sir was raised in a cage. not really any movement was allowed. movement for the animals isn't profitable sir. at first the pigs didn't adjust well to not being able to move. thousands of these animals indoors, not using their muscles. their immune systems quickly died. it became genetic. pigs with no defense against disease. well farmer john we can't sell diseases pig meat now can we. no johnny, but we can't let them out of their cages either. we won't make any money that way. i know....we can just pump them full of drugs from the time they are born until the time we kill them. that will keep them healthy. not very tasty....but alive and well. well i think that says it all....along with death row, hiroshima, and iraq. we are wack!
