Korina...I'm terribly sorry about the amount lameness you are about to suffer. I have no idea how to write Balthier and this is completely opposite to what I like. D:
But I tried because I adore you that much!

“What’s the matter?”
She’d tell him, but wouldn’t that be incredibly awkward?
“It’s nothing.”
His brow rose in questioning, stating obviously that he considered her the worst liar ever and that something was wrong because well there just was. He knew and she couldn’t deny it.
“Uncomfortable?”
Yes, but not in the way he possibly thought she was. She had long ago forgotten the fear of being caught by the others. What they had to say seemed so unimportant now; well maybe just a little.
If Vaan gave her that look of complete shock, complete confusion surely she would be quite uncomfortable explaining why she chose him, chose to do this. And if Basch suddenly pulled away silently, becoming reserved with disappointment, then she most definitely would be quite upset. Lady Ashe would look down upon her with disgust, she knew this. And Fran? Penelo didn’t even want to think about what Fran might say. She might calmly scold her as she usually did to Vaan, and that had always brought a devastating thought to Penelo’s mind. But it didn’t matter much anymore. They had been doing this for so long now.
So when he asked if she was uncomfortable, Penelo stated that she wasn’t…exactly.
"Well, might there be something wrong with the way I’m doing this? I’d like to know because it be terribly helpful to my deflating ego."
Oh, no he wasn’t doing anything wrong! He was actually doing well beyond what she had ever considered wonderful. But of course, as much as she wanted to tell him that everything was fine, she just couldn’t completely lie. He caught on every time anyways.
“It’s nothing really…but,” she paused. Well one way or another she needed to have this out in the open. She needed to let him know just what was wrong because now the uncomfortable level was rising.
Really she didn’t want to curse anything, but why Mt. Bur-Omisace of all places to enjoy themselves?
“I think my toes are going to freeze off.”
There she had said it. Sure his body was warm against hers, and sure when his lips pressed teasingly over her own her body burned so hot that it was almost unbearable. But even with as much warmth as they made together, her feet weren’t exactly getting any of it. The cold could not be beaten overall.
Balthier stared at her for a moment almost in a stupor before sighing.
Younger girls were so much trouble and overly picky. Yes picky beyond belief. But fine, if her feet were cold then he would fetch her socks. And so he did.
