Random thought: The Phantom of the Opera kicks ass. Why, then, does the rest of Andrew Lloyd Weber's catalogue suck so? I mean, Rodgers and Hammerstein or Boublil and Schonberg were never mind-blowingly spectacular by any means, but were always consistently good, or at least acceptable... Why, then, did Weber have this one crowning achievement which belies the rest of his unconscionably tepid body of work?
Cats? Evita? Starlight frickin' Express? Like, what the hell, yo?
Although I hear The Woman in White is marginally decent, and still have yet to check it out, and while I'm ever-thankful that he introduced the world to Sarah Brightman (like, damn), why does this formulaic, unnervingly self-indulgent crap keep getting produced, and why does everyone else but me absolutely adore this once-lucky, talentless hack, and treat him like he's the damned Messiah of Broadway?
Likewise, is my love of musical theater keeping potential girlfriends away? I mean, seriously...
