Aaaaaah Vacation, I Need More of You - Pt 2
So, what I couldn't post with the slideshow because Photobucket/LJ are being retarded:
We lucked out with where we stayed, Wyndam Bay Voyage Inn. I found an awesome deal on Hotels.com. Unfortunately, Hotels.com didn't communicate to the Inn that we had a reservation, it turns out, until the day AFTER we actually checked in. The guy at the front desk didn't argue the fact that we weren't in his computer system which was amazing to me being a New Yawker and all ;) He just said, "Well that's wee-ahd. Oh well", made a photocopy of our confirmation print out & gave us the awesome bay-side room. Which blew us away even more because we were expecting the not-so-great-but-what-we-could-afford street-side room due to the very low price I had found. I wasn't going to argue and believe I said thank you more than once. Add the pool access, and $35 for salad plus dinner for 2 each avec bottle o' wine each night at the yum-nummy restaurant (their banana strudel is fan-friggin-tastic). Oh yeah, we were thrilled to pieces! They looked at us a bit funny, long-haired guy & tattooed/pierced chica amidst the retired Navy folks, but they were nice as can be. We even got $100 cash-money back for sitting thru their Wyndam timeshare shpeel! *Snicker*
We didn't go on any of the official tours but we wandered the streets of Newport and a bit of Jamestown, sipped wine on the deck, enjoyed the views and relaxed. Just what the doctor ordered! More of this please. Oh & I was repeatedly refered to as "Mrs. Bowen" which I giggled about of course. Apparently we are not only buying a house next year but, so sayeth the Scotsman to more than one person, getting married next Spring-ish and having chitlins soon there after! Heh, first time I've ever heard an, albeit vague, timeline exit his mouth.
I even came back to find I had an Etsy order. Huzzah!
