Seattle will be so much

better when Sisi and Tet comes to visit. Sisi will be here within in less than 15 days. I am thrilled to see her. I haven't seen this girl since December when I flew over to NYC for my medical school interview. Richard and I have a huge surprise for her. She'll love it. Tet is visiting a few days after Sisi leaves.

Research is so stressful when one's on a deadline. We're hoping to prepare and submit a manuscript by November. I'm not aiming very high. Neuron, Nat Neurosci, PNAS, and J Neurosci are all impossible.

My advisor is leaving for 10 days, beginning this Sunday, which means this is my first opportunity to be completely independent, to design my own experiment, to implement the scheme, to analyze the data, and to report back to him my findings. Asking questions in research isn't difficult. No, that's not a very hard skill. We all have an innate curiosity that permits us to ask questions. Asking the right question is a different story.
