Doug is helping me on this secret project. He is so well connected. I emailed a postdoc from UCSF who was at Berkeley to ask him about Microsoft sponsorship. It all sounds too simple when he says that CAL just wrote a letter asking for financial support.
I don't know how much money I'll need for this project, but base price is at least 5,000. If I can raise $20,000, I'll be more than happy. I should look into traditional sources like Stanford Undergraduate Research Program. Then I'll look for corporate funding from small biotech start-ups to big Pharmas like Genentech. I hope to emphasize the training aspect of my project.
Anyway, back to the reason why Doug is amazing. He lists a few ex Stanford faculty at Genentech whom I can approach for money as they have supported him in the past. Doug also threw a few companies that has close connections with Stanford.
