Prop 8 March
There's some march this weekend downtown to support overturning Prop 8 in Cali. As much as I hate waking up early on weekends (and on weekdays too, for that matter), I'll probably go down and participate. My newfound political awareness is nagging inside my head like a non-existant jewish grandmother, and I just feel that I can't stand idly by while some people take away the rights of others because their marriage or family situation is "non-Traditional".
My marriage is non-Traditional (don't have, don't want children), and my upbringing was non-Traditional (divorced parents, largely raised by my single Mom), yet my wife and I are happy and I turned out to be an okay citizen and social member of the human race. I don't know what message this march will send, or if it will make a difference, but I wouldn't feel right sitting home playing video games while I could at least take a visible stand against lies and misrepresentations that are used to promote inequality and injustice.
