Others in your place may have shrugged and muttered 'natural selection.' But not you, good sir! I commend your compassion!
I'm a sucker for injured or abandoned animals, even the filthy and disease carrying ones. Give me a winged pidgeon or a crippled rat and I'll be all Mother Caring. I can't help myself! Yet give me a screaming child and I start screaming in return like Rain Man. Weird.
And J K Rowling HAS to put that spell in the last Harry Potter. We should start an online petition.
Well I tend to suspect that natural selection also affects the behaviour of certain animals in such a way that they willingly adopt infants from other species. It's not hard to find articles about cats adopting rats or birds, or dogs adopting all manner of creatures... perhaps it's because they have their needs taken care of -food, water, safe nest, companions- and can afford to expend extra energy to raise somebody else's baby?
And yes, let's petition that Turdus Migratorious be turned into an official spell... if it's not too late for book 7? She has mentioned a possible Hogwarts Alamanac...hmmm
Pipkin is adorable and lucky to have found you! But yeah, might possibly be a Skeksis. Which, conversationally, brings me 'round to: Sorry I missed the puppets last night! I hope a good puppet time was had by all.
