on wednesday my mother kept repeating, like a mantra: moving in is [one of] the most stressful experience[s] a couple goes through.
while it was hell on a stick on our bodies, we did remarkably well. totally sans yelling and meltdowns, with minimal bickering, and full of reasurring looks and sweet hand touches as we passed on the stairs.
we woke up at 9 (an hour later than we wanted to, but we already know how good i am in the morning) pronto-ed our way to the nearest coffee and set out to find the U-Haul location. it took days of convincing, and finally my mother offering to pay for it to convince chris we needed a U-Haul. he still was stubborn and got the smallest one. even still, had we not had this conveinence, the process would have taken 10 times longer than it already did. money well spent AMEN.
also before i go too far. shout out love and thanks to those who made this day possible: nea, my nea, home for only moments at a time made her way to us in the afternoon. pachino, thanks for doing the right thing, now shut up about how you are an awesome friend, it takes the awesome out. my brother, who traded a week of grounding for one day of hard labor with almost no bitching :) . JAY: chris's foxxy friend without whom the heavy lifting would have been absolutely impossible. and my momma, coaching and cheering and thinking of everything. she stocked our home with immediate essentials from toilet paper, soap, papertowels, plastic and paper utenstils, and filled our fridge. things we totally negelected to think of. as well as driving me and my henchmen around for the day. she was totally banging
so by the time we find the place and get back to chris's apartment it's 11.30 already. we start loading boxes, my mother and owen come by. owen is left to be chris's little helper and mom and i get pachino. Jay joins us after he is done his climbing (indoor rockwall), and owen and mom go to the grocery store to pick up cold cuts for lunch, and all the things i mentioned previously we hadn't thought of. the one thing we were prepared for was ice cold beer. :) probably the only time i was glad for coors lite. light? (bud lite? light?) you know what i mean. i think it's lite.
chris's stuff fills the u haul. bitch what did i tell you! he was thinking with his and my stuff we'd still have room left over. so we head down to our new place around 2/2.30. unpack.
moving from a 3rd floor apartment to a 3 floor townhouse is no bueno on the thighs, calves and KNEES.
on mom's way to the place she gets Nea. we are done unpacking around 4.30
EAT.
this is the only time we really bicker, in addition to something i will tell about soon. Chris seriously did not want to take the time to have a goddamn sandwich and sit the fuck down for a minute before we went to my parents place to grab my stuff. BECAUSE (bicker #2/ 1b it's kind of the same thing) he had tickets to a concert that evening. really? really? move in day and you are going to a concert that evening.
YES HE WAS. oh well. boys are stubborn.
nea and pachino stay behind to organize some of the majority of crap we just left on the first floor when we got too exhausted to carry things to their appropriate floors.
it takes us an hour to load my stuff and and hour to unload it again.
my stuff is dramatically less organized because the last time i moved was using the back of a car in a rush to get out of my old place. oh well. its fine now.
Chris went to his concert (Don Caballero at Sonar) while nea pachino and I hung around and walked to find us a liquor store in my pretty pretty neighborhood at sunset and sat around sipping vodka fresca and giggling and girl talking :) it was pleasant. i'm glad in the end the chris went out for a bit because we did need a little space time. i was supposed to go to the concert too originally but there was no way i was standing for another godknows how long.
the first song played in my house was Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall;. :-D
Chris came home and drove everyone home and we stopped back at the old place to check on the kitty. she will be coming home tomorrow :)
by the time we got home it was 3. we had set up the bed while chris was gone so we came home and flopped out. we both woke up immobilized. he tried to call out of work but still had to go in.
and now the unpacking commences. we have a few too many pieces of funtinure, with mine and his so some may be looking for new homes or storage, we aren't sure yet. i am still in very much pain in my thighs that will not un-tense or un-sore. they hurt so bad i walk up and downstairs like an old cripple lady. its sad. hot baths only help for an hour or so. i'm looking forward to having my legs back.
next week looking for a job returns. i had one for a minute at the Rusty Scupper but long story short they were assholes and sexoffenders so i won't be working there. i'd rather be closer to home anyway. thursday is my last day at the breeze but i work every day until then, and next weekend we are going to PA to some jazz fest concert thing to see AMY LaVere :-D
we should be having our house warming parties early september.
once nice quiet respectable one in the early evening with wine and cooking. another one later with music and laughter.
we can't tell how thin the wall are yet though and our neighbors schedules and intentions, so we will be discovering that before guests come by. parties will probably end a bit early, but that is really just as well.
today we had our first breakfast together and we are very happy
**glow**
it will be gorgeous there in the fall, i can not wait.
we've decided not to get cable, and as of yet neither of us have a working computer so we will be totally entertained with the plethora of books we have and the studio we will create and the projects we will partake in.
everyone says we are crazy for this but i'm pretty psyched.
i'm also getting the hang of the maryland public transportation system. i kinda like the bus. i've finished almost two books on the bus alone almost. :)
Life is just beginning :):):)
