While browsing the net the past few days, in part to do research on my
Bliché concept. I've stumbled across a few extremely enjoyable sites. And since Tuesday has become poker night, and therefore equals a night where I don't have much use of my computer, it seems like a great night for a day of links. Also, I'm going to limit myself to website that I have actually visited in the previous week.
- http://www.personalityquiz.net/test/robinhood.htm - While searching for some stupid web quizzes for yesterday's post, I tried this little morality quiz. I decided not to post in with my other quizzes because I was afraid that my answer my influence people's decisions. I mean, it's crap, but interesting none the less.
- http://www.googlemark.org/ - kristinmarie419 turned me on to this site. It's a neat little concept. If you create a word (say like... Bliché,) you can go to this site and have it registered. It searches google for occurrences of the world, and if no conflicts exist, it issues you a certificate to prove that you created the word. Now, it's interesting to note that this is NOT a google.com sponsored website, so I'm interested to see how long it takes before GOOG steps in and shuts the damn thing down. Anyway, for someone like me that makes up words all the time, this little site and I are likely to become fast friends.
- http://provensystem.blogspot.com/2006/01/eulogist-part-one.html - A nice little bit of creative writing here. I stumbled across this while bouncing around this evening, and it made me wonder something. To all of my talented writer friends out there: if you were trying to flesh out a new character, wouldn't writing the character's eulogy from his/her friend's perspective be a great way to add colour and polish your understanding of that character?
- http://www.tondering.dk/claus/cal/calendar28.html - I love this site. All text. No Graphics. Everything you wanted to know about calendars but didn't know that you wanted to know. I epically love sections 2.3 and 2.8.1. My enjoyment of this site also proves that I'm a complete tool.
- http://www.mcsweeneys.net/ - Filled with wonderfully humorous essays such as "SCENES FROM LORD OF THE RINGS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN USED AS SETUPS FOR BAD COMMERCIALS HAD THE FILMMAKERS NOT RESPECTED THE MATERIAL" and "THE PRETENTIOUS 17-YEAR-OLD'S GUIDE TO DATING" Plus, I love the old school one column format. Always worth a peek every so often.
- http://media.putfile.com/Dave-Chappelle---Prince - Two words: Game. Blouses. Simply a classic.
- http://foureyedmonsters.com/brothers_rye/Rump.mov - This video was handpicked by Beastie Boys as the winner of an independent video competition. It's creative and pretty funny, and the two guys in the video are friends of my friend (and perhaps yours) Cherry. So basically, I'm only three degrees from the Beastie Boys. I rule.
- http://www.gametableonline.com/ - The site itself is fairly hoe-hum, with one notable exception: On this website, you can play Cosmic Wimpout online. Plus if you can also download it to a Palm or a PC! I'm so excited that I just peed a little.
