Recently, I've become very annoyed by many people's online journals. It seems that every post to a personal blog post I read falls into a specific type of well established blog cliché
( Read more... )
As to my time management skills: Yes, posting here has severely cut into my masturbation and Madden 06 time. Yet somehow, I struggle on.
But I have to say that I'm shocked at how my post has apparently universally interpreted as an attack on the writing habits or abilities of my friends.
I feel I need to address this in this comment.
It's important to understand that I surf random blogs all the time. I don't just look at friend posts, I look at the posts of my friends friends friends friends. One of my current LJ friends I actually met by playing six degrees of separation with LJ friends (i.e. clicking on my friend list, picking someone, viewing their friend list, picking one.) So my opinion about general blogging theory does not derive simply from the posting habits of my friends.
Further, any negative language I used in this post was intended to be directed at me and my fussy nature, and my desire to simply let go of my arrogance and appreciate the underling thought processes of other bloggers.
So, I'd officially like to make the a statement.
To anyone who was offended by this post, because they felt that I was personally attacking their writing ability or the Bliché™ with which they communicate: I'm sorry. It truly was not my intent to attack you, but to comment on my own frustrations. However, I have failed in both communication of that desire and in execution of the concept. Again, I am sorry.
Finally Beth, as to the needlessly large words - I'm an arrogant bastard and like to hear myself talk. So there will most likely be more large words to come. To do less would betray my responsibility to accurately portray my personality and voice in my posts.
But some of the commenters (yourself included) have posted sentiments that I was insulting or mocking my friends. It's conceivable that someone who felt insulted or mocked may have also been offended.
It's to those people that I apologize.
And every post I make is an open solicitation for people to respond. If I didn't want a response, I'd keep a diary.
