I quit my job. My boss was abusive. His idea of management was yelling. Yelling and telling people they could quit and it wouldn't matter to him. His management experience comes from running his family restaurant. I tried to tell him many times that telling servers that they need to shape up or they can be replaced is one thing. I don't agree with trying to control people with threats at all, but those threats being aimed at skilled workers is nonsense. You can't just replace people doing the work we do with anyone off the street.
Last week, he was screaming at me and my team again, and I couldn't take it anymore. I told him we needed a boss, not a bully. We needed consistent direction and clear deadlines that didn't shift whenever he felt like it. He called me a bitch and a dumbass. In front of my team. For sticking up for us. He said he didn't care about the work I'd done...even though I created his company from nothing...from an idea.
Anyway, on to bigger and better things. I'm going to take two courses at a time and try to finish school sooner. I've already got some freelance stuff lined up. I'm happy and don't dread getting up in the morning.
