Story Summary: Alternate Universe. Sousuke Sagara is the long standing, long suffering bodyguard of Lady Kaname, the only daughter in a wealthy family. She has recently been married off to a distant cousin in the hopes that she produce an heir and will never be forced to leave her home. No one expected the zombie apocalypse. In time, it’s only Sousuke and Kaname fighting for survival and just hoping not to get bitten in this strange, new world.
Chapter Summary: Kaname has been captured. Kyouko's been shot. Sousuke and Shinji need to find a way out, find answers, and find Kaname.

Anyway, I both looked forward to and dreaded writing this chapter. Way ahead of time, I was calling this my "Exposition Chapter." I wanted there to be an explanation behind the zombie apocalypse and I enjoyed thinking up various scenarios. A lot of zombie media has the outbreak as the result of cancer vaccinations gone wrong, and I wanted a similar explanation. In fact, over the months and months I've thought about this, I specifically did research into the idea and had some pretty detailed back story. Which I did not write down and then forgot.
I picked it back up weeks later and toyed around with it a bit more, poked holes in the explanations and was generally not incredibly happy with it, but had most of the details in place. I figured that I'd wrestle it out as I started writing. Then the semester ended and Scribe and I bought a house (yay!) and I was just so tired and couldn't even stand the thought of just wrestling with words. Another semester started.
One morning, I woke up too early and, to try to get myself back to sleep, I pulled out this back story idea once more. And I figured it out. Full Metal Panic, in a way, is all about Black Technology. It's basically a handwave built into the canon that says that "We shouldn't be able to do this, but we can for reasons only a few people can understand." If they can do it, I can do it. I made it medical nanotechnology instead of super robots, but I think it works. And I even came up with a clever, ironic theme and could match it to both Amalgam and Mithril.
I wrote this all down at 6AM on a Tuesday (learned my lesson from before) and saw that I had no excuse for not writing it out and posting it.
The chapter's title is from one of my favorite songs, "Again" by Flyleaf. I think it capture's Sousuke's predicament at the beginning of the chapter. Further, it's a song I've always associated with Tessa. I actually think that some of the lyrics fit her mindset well, especially at the end of the first season of the anime. Since this is the chapter I introduce Tessa, I thought it was doubly important.
From what I can see, there are three main chapters left (and maybe and epilogue). I will finish this. Hopefully it will be done before summer is over. *fingers crossed*
