All right,
starwhales! Things are starting to pick up in the Whoniverse, as you may have noticed. Series 6 begins on April 23rd.
Torchwood: Miracle Day begins on July 8 and in the noble Whoniverse tradition has a hilariously photoshopped poster. We're due for a new series 6 trailer this weekend I think, and I know something called "the prequel" to The Impossible Astronaut airs tomorrow at 4 and
there is a teaser for it on the BBC Doctor Who website. (I cannot, however, explain the logic of a teaser for a prequel for a series premiere.)
Since this will be our second full season with Steven Moffat as showrunner, I think it's safe to say we can pick up on some of his favourite quotes, tropes, themes, etc. And you know what that means: DRINKING GAME! All in good fun, obvs. In the spirit of
the RTD-Who Drinking Game we brought you earlier, I give you:
The New New Who Drinking Game!
Take a drink when:
- Something is described as "wibbly", "wobbly" or "timey-wimey"
- There is a time loop
- Someone explains that they only knew how/when to do something because they remembered seeing themselves do it first (2 drinks)
- The Doctor delivers a dramatic speech about how badass he is
- ...and it works (2 drinks)
- ...and it doesn't work (3 drinks)
- Eleven describes a clothing item as "cool"
- Eleven twirls
- "Geronimo!"
- "Come along, Pond(s)!"
- Eleven stands between the Ponds with one arm around Rory's shoulders and his other arm around Amy's shoulders
- Amy flirts with someone who isn't her husband
- Rory wears flannel
- ...and Amy wears matching flannel (2 drinks)
- River says "Spoilers!"
- River references and/or shows off her diary (2 drinks)
- "Hello, sweetie."
- Eleven and River act like a married couple
- ...while simultaneously keeping the true nature of their relationship incredibly ambiguous (2 drinks)
- Eleven wears a new hat
- ...River shoots off his new hat (2 drinks)
- A character introduced as a child becomes a hot young adult
- ...and promptly tries to get it onnn, bow chicka bow wow (2 drinks)
- Ocean life! In SPACE!
- The villain isn't truly evil, they're just acting according to their nature
- When the episode ends, some long-buried childhood fear has resurfaced to haunt your nightmares forever
Of course, there are some old faithfuls regardless of showrunner:
- Companion in danger!
- It's the Daleks!
- Suddenly, the entire world/universe/multiverse is at stake!
And as always, drink the whole bottle if:
- The episode ends and you have no idea what actually just happened but you thoroughly enjoyed it anyway
Did I miss anything? Anyone want to draft up a Torchwood equivalent?
