I've finally loaded Verdana (larger view) versions of all the stories in my fic journal. While I was doing that, I re-formatted the opening message and links list. I think (hope) it's easier to visually locate the story you want to read, in the version that's easiest on your eyes, in your browser ( Read more... )

I looked at your page on a 12" ibook using Safari and it looks great. I'll check later on the iMac using Camino and Foxfire.

It appears that I don't have foxfire on the desktop, but things look great in Camino (another mac browser)

I have Ye Simple Bog-Standard PC, and it looks fine (I still rather prefer the smaller font, it just looks more comfortable to my eyes).

I have a big flat screen at work (which, for all it's waaayyy more costly, doesn't have nearly so nice a picture), but won't be there till Tuesday, I'll try and remember to check it on that.

Me too, but we seem to be in the minority. Well, I never do things the way other people do.

It looks fine on my end of things - I use Firefox, btw. Also, I prefer the larger font, as the smaller one is really just too small on my screen, so I appreciate the choice you give us. You definitely did a great job for your readers :-)

You're very welcome. I'd have done it sooner, except I just didn't know until a commenter mentioned it in her feedback.

And now it makes me wonder what you see when you look at your own page. (Or anybody, ditto.) Because, for me, your page has incredibly small font, and I've wondered how you read it -- but maybe you see it bigger. This is why I have my friends page set to style = mine; everything nice and big.

That's weird, all right. Your page - this one here, I mean - has incredibly small font too even though it's obviously not how you're seeing on your end either. Mine isn't supposedly small... it's the size by default but I see it bigger than I see your font, for instance. Odd, that. Or maybe not considering browsers messing with people but still...

And for me, your font is about half the size of how I see mine. Too bad that LJ can't standardize it a bit better.

It looks great to me! That grid system you use is really handy, and it saves people scrolling down and down to find the fic. I'm guessing it's done with HTML. If so, how (if you don't mind answering)?

Good to know; thanks.

Well, when you think about it, most fic-pages have some sort of title index. With the fics posted (a) out of order and (b) in two versions, anyone who wanted a particular story would give up if they had to scroll down. And the point of a fic-journal is to encourage people to read, not DIScourage them. ;-)

I'm guessing it's done with HTML. If so, how (if you don't mind answering)?

Didn't mind a bit; it just got a bit more involved that I thought. But I learned something myself, so it's all good.
