So yeah, wow.

This has been a crazy ass week for me. Hence the actual update, not just posting comments on other peoples' stuff.

I discovered that I'm not yet ready to give up sleeping with a teddy bear. I gave it a shot in the effort to do this "big kid" thing right, but failed miserably. So it's back to curling up with my bear and actually getting a full night's rest.

I've signed up to take a night class at LCC. I figured, "Well, why not? I like to learn, and it's not like I've got anything else to do Monday or Wednesday night." So I'm now in a beginning accounting class, even though I took one of those in high school. Hopefully this will help me in getting the City Clerk job in St. Ignace that's going to open up next year. And it will give me something to do. I felt really weird registering at LCC, though. After knowing Alma for so long and just having all the locations and procedures down, I actually felt lost and confused again. I'm sure it will pass soon, though.

I did a lot of interviews this week. First I went to Manpower, which is basically a Human Resources company. I did a typing test, a data entry test, a proofreading test, a quiz on how to properly lift things, a call center test, and a logic/critical thinking test. I also had two interviews there. Then, once I had about half a million forms filled out, they scheduled me an appointment with a company called Maximus. So the next day I had to go and do an interview there as well. Long story short, I'm now gainfully employed. Maximus is a company that contracts out from the State of Michigan to do run a few of the programs and save us all from bureaucracy. I'll be working in the Medicare/Medicaid division helping low income families and the disabled get medical insurance. It sounds not too terrible, and it's the kind of job that I won't have to take home with me at night. So yeah, I'm pretty stoked about that. Plus, it's a Monday through Friday gig so I can spend my weekends visiting Matt in Alma (which was the whole point of moving to Lansing).

This brings me to now, sitting in Matt's dorm listening to the band learn drill. I would love love love to be out there with them, but I just have to remind myself that I had my time, and now it's someone else's turn to play. Oh! And Matt says that no one has done ANY theme days yet. I'm so disappointed in them, as I'm sure Heather, Johanna, and Missy are too. We got about 60% of the band to dress like pirates for goodness sakes! Is it too much to ask for someone to pick up the slack now that we're gone? :)

Oh, and wish Matt a happy birthday today.
