just spent some quality time with this book, with its kind-of creepin illustrations (by a bomb illustrator, regardless--i'm looking at this woman's collection), especially the fronticepiece, which features a small devil-faced child smirking before a portrait of the virgin mary with the banner "WHERE CHILDREN ARE NOT HEAVEN IS NOT" scrolling under him. the facing title page reads "The face and the voice of a child are assurance of heaven and its promise for ever"
