Crazy Weekends

And thus the crazy weekends of fun have begun.

Last Saturday we went to Munich. It was a short day trip, but overall enjoyable. The exhibits are a little boring, especially since I had seen them already. We ate some nifty lunch (white sausages, weinerschnitzel, and swiss sausage salad) and then roamed around the city. On the train ride back to Salzburg, we drank some Chilean wine...hahaha.

Sunday we had planned a trip to the ice caves, but it seemed really expensive to me. So a couple of us went to Mass instead, at the cathedral. It was pretty cool, with a live Baroque mass and the cardinal presiding. It was two hours long, however. After that, I went home for lunch. We had cold cuts and boiled eggs with salad and lovely cheese.
Afterwards, Terry's host brother took us to the top of a mountain. It was amazing, and we saw the best sights. We then rode out to the family's lake district house in Salzkammergut and went swimming. It was extremely cold, but sooo much fun.

Monday was also a very nice day, as we went to Helbrunn Palace and saw the watergames, invented by a crazy bishop that liked to play games on his guests. Everywhere you walked, water spewed out of the walls and the floor. I even got wet, and it was FREEZING outside.
The Mikes' host parents had a lovely dinner party at their art studio. I felt like we were in a movie...there were candles and wine and of course, walls covered in shelves with paints, and all kinds of art supplies.

Sandee's birthday was celebrated atop one of the city's hotels. We drank fine drinks and ate chocolate cake. It was amazing.

Yesterday, it rained all day. Crappy! But then we went to the Republic (cafe with wifi) and it turned out that it was Latin night, so we watched the Austrians dance salsa, and I finally got Don to dance with me for at least one dance. It was awesome.

This weekend is Vienna, and next weekend is Rome!!!!
