DC Relaunch

Jun 14, 2011 10:47

Oh my god I don't even know where to begin. Maybe later I'll actually write down all my thoughts Ok I got carried away and ended writing it out, they're not too deep and the only thing I'm disappointed in is Harley and her new costume.

It's hard to find one place that references all the new titles of the DC Relaunch. You can check out the DC Comics blog, so far just sift through all the June entries.

I'm excited that Geoff Johns is doing quite a few of the titles i'll be picking up, because I really like what he did with Green Lantern, I really enjoyed that.

Anyway this kid on tumblr has written up a 6 part review of all the covers and arcs they're planning on doing so far. It's a good read and gives a good perspective from someone of my own age who has a lot more comic book experience than me :) This links to the last part, but there's a directory of all the previous sections too. he doesn't highlight ALL  of the titles but he focuses on most of the ones I'm into, IE the Bats, the Flash, and Green  Lantern as well as Teen Titans.

I find the relaunch kinda unneccesary, I mean the costume redesigns are kinda cool, I'm going to miss Nightwing's blue and black but it's just a colour you know? I don't think we need to relearn all their backstories, because we KNOW them. We know how Green Lantern got his ring, we know how Batman decided to become the big black bat and we know that Wonderwoman is a moron [heh]. Oh well, it's giving my friends a great opportunity to pick up a series right from the beginning, and I do know a few who are looking forward to getting in on this! This is good because Ithink this was DC's ultimate goal anyway. To encourage new readers.

Beneath the cut are some series I'm planning on picking up

Nightwing #1
I'm just going to leave this here. I don't hate the red. I miss the blue and the fingerstripes but he is still so smoking hot so I approve!

NIGHTWING #1

Dick Grayson flies high once more as Nightwing in a new series from hot new writer Kyle Higgins (BATMAN: GATES

Nightwing must confront his past, among former friends and enemies from his circus days, while uncovering a much greater evil!

Aquaman #1
I am a massive fan of Aquaman. I really love him. I hate that people are so ridic with him. Of course he's not going to be as good as Batman or the others in the JL because the Justice League is based on land, where his element is water. Duh. People don't think Sharks suck because they can't be fearsome and awesome on land?

Also a lot of people have started paying him out because of Big Bang Theory when one of the boys is all like "No one wants to be Aquaman, not even Aquaman wants to be Aquaman." Whatever, pick up a comic and a get a clue. [Lol as you can see I have a soft spot in my heart for the King of the sea]

Anyway I love him, I'm excited for this. One of the ones I will DEFINITELY be picking up. I love you Arthur Curry! And also you're the only one who doesn't have an ugly 90s name. IE Orin. I would so name my kid Orin.

I think it's going to be good because Geoff Johns is writing this one too.

Batman and Robin #1
I am so getting this. Daddy + Son Wayne? How can I not! Look at Damian's cute little happy face!

There's like 4 batman titles and he's in the Justice League ones too. I love Bats but to me it's a bit of an overkill. I won't be able to buy ALL OF THEM. I'm going to have to try though!

Green Lantern #1
There's four Green Lantern arcs and I'd like to get three of them :/
I'm assuming this one is about Hal Jordan :)

The red-hot GREEN LANTERN team of writer Geoff Johns and artist Doug Mahnke introduce an unexpected new Lantern.

I really want this because it's featuring Kyle Rayner, the hottest Green Lantern! Heh. It also features the entire emotional spectrum which will be kinda cool!

Kyle Rayner has assembled the most powerful team in all the universe, selected from the full spectrum of corps. But can he even keep this volatile group together?

Teen Titans  #1
Headed by Tim Drake this doesn't look terrible. It could be better though. Tim's Red Robin costum is cute as hell and the feather's are adorable, I just don't think they're very practical. Connor looks babin. Kid Flash looks rad. They could have done a lot worse anyway.

TEEN TITANS #1

Catwoman #1
This looks good. I don't LOVE the art but the write-up sounds very hot, very sexy!

Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
I'd like this. It looks awesome. Red Hood, Arsenal and Starfire. I'm getting a Batman Beyond-ish vibe from Jason's suit too. Kinda cute that's he's embracing the bat.

I like Roy, I'm glad he's in this! he used to be Green Arrow's sidekick Speedy. But Starfire? Ugh. She irks me!

For obvious reasons. I really like everyone's costumes in this. Wonderwoman has pants, Love the collars on the boys; suits. I like that Cyborg is more in this one too. Aquaman is babin'.

DC Universe Presents #1
I want this I think because they'll be showing off a different hero etc every issue which would be kinda cool to get to know the ones I really don't care about that much. Might find someone I like!

DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS #1
Written by PAUL JENKINS
Art by BERNARD CHANG
Cover by RYAN SOOK
On sale SEPTEMBER 21 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
It’s the start of a new series spotlighting some of the DC Universes’s most exciting super heroes! First up is Deadman, straight from the pages of BRIGHTEST DAY, in a five-issue epic where the body-hopping hero meets his match in a new foe who wants to make sure the souls that Deadman helps out go straight to Hell!

And then there is this. Which I don't want to read because it looks HORRIBLE but it's like a car accident, I won't be able to look away. I'll want to know what is going on.

That girl? That's Harley Quinn.

Yeh. Here's the write up

SUICIDE SQUAD #1
Written by ADAM GLASS
Art by MARCO RUDY
Cover by RYAN BENJAMIN
On sale SEPTEMBER 14 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+
They’re a team of death-row super villains recruited by the government to take on missions so dangerous - they’re sheer suicide!
Harley Quinn! Deadshot! King Shark! Defeated and imprisoned, they’re being interrogated about their mission - and about who’s pulling the strings behind this illegal operation. Who will be the first to crack under the pressure?

Woah Lois. I love you DC and you never really disappoint me so I hope this is not something bad. How can it not be. What happened to making everyone in new costumes that protect them more? Harley is a gymnast, how is she supposed to do flips n shit in that? Her boobs are going to be everywhere.

And don't get me started on the hair. No.

dc relaunch, i love comics!
