Truth

If there was ever a word that was blatantly misused more than any other, it would be truth. People refer to their own agendas, dogmas, and opinions as what is universally true, but it is not. I find it offensive when people speak of something that is not factual as absolute truth. For example, I find it irritating when people say that the "word of God" is truth. It's not. Even if one could prove that there is, in fact, a God, the "word of God" has been editted and censored by man for generations, not to mention by the early Catholics. One cannot call something fact that has such a gigantic margin of error. Using the word truth in its transfigured form does not tie itself solely to members of various Judeo-Christian faiths but other groups and individuals as well. Hate-based groups, cults, confused individuals and others all use the word truth to force their own self-righteousness on other people. Truth is a word that gives people the pseudo-righteousness to not coherently explain reasons but to basically say "Because it's true" as evidence. However, most beliefs such as this are opinions, which are not facts and should not be treated as facts. There is a clear and obvious line between fact and opinion, but this line has been butchered for ages, even though the concept is as basic as multiplication.

(FYI: This came to me while I was watching a movie where a Kung Fu guy takes down a White Supremacist group that believes they are sent by God to reinstate the Holocaust)
