LUCETI POST [voice/action]

[What with the draft and Keiichi's recent hospitalization, to say that House 22 had been tense was an understatement, to say the least. True, things had been getting better- Keiichi was healing (and supervised) and Rena looked less like she was about to burst into tears at any moment, but Satoshi still found it hard to stay inside the house. It's a ( Read more... )

[But Keiichi also remembers her broken. He remembers those empty eyes and blank face, the way she obviously lied, the way she... Didn't reach out for them even if they tried to reach for her. But that's all in the past, in forgotten worlds and nightmares. The fate had been shattered, there was still the curse against the Houjous, but Keiichi now knew better, it wouldn't take long to shatter that too. And Hinamizawa would be an united place again, and even if that damned uncle returned, he would have no chance to get anywhere close to Satoko. And... One day Irie would finish the medicine, would perfect it and Satoshi would be able to wake up again and be with Satoko.

He couldn't wait to see those two meeting again.

He's distracted from his own thoughts as Satoshi rubs his hair. What the... Keiichi just laughs at it. Ookay, so this was why he had heard that Satoshi and him were alike? Both of them have this habit?]

Satoko is a dear friend for me, I'm an only child but she, Rika and Hanyuu are like sisters to me. She has her flaws, but who doesn't? No one's perfect and she's a good enough child to make up for it and make herself be loved. She's also quite strong and reliable, thanks to her I didn't set my house on fire when my parents left for a weekend.

[Satoshi doesn't know any of that. He wouldn't want to know that. All he cares about is the fact that Satoko is happy, and has someone looking after her.

...Even though Satoshi himself can't do it.

"Dear friend." "Make herself be loved." "Strong and reliable." Satoshi can see it clearly now, the reason why Rena liked him so much, why she trusted him so despite saying she had only known him for a few weeks back in Hinamizawa.]

I'm...really glad to hear that. [And he means it. The soft gratitude in his voice doesn't come close to portraying how much he actually means it.]

Umm...I don't really know what it's like when you come to Hinamizawa [and that goes for his own fate as well], but...

...I'll trust you to look after her, okay?

[Keiichi smiles and nods easily.]

With my life on the line.

[It's a simple and short answer but it's honest and anyone can see it, anyone can hear that it's not just words, he seriously means it.]

To protect her I would do anything and stand against anyone.

[He already did it, several times even if not always by choosing the right path. Even if once he ended hurting her... No, they were sick, both of them, it was out of their control.]

But you know... That goes for you too. I know we barely know each other, but I want to be your friend and protect you too. Satoko wouldn't forgive me, no, I wouldn't even be able to look at her in the eyes if something happened to you while I was around.

[Honestly, Satoshi couldn't have cared less if Keiichi wanted to protect him. As far as he's concerned, his life is over. His time in Luceti is just a lucky detour before being "demoned away".

But that's okay. Because maybe if Oyashiro-sama gets His fill of the first-born, He'll leave Satoko alone.

And Keiichi said he would protect her. That's all that matters. Keiichi might as well have stopped talking there because nothing else he could have said would have had as much impact as simply promising to keep Satoko safe. Which may be why he seems to take the similar offer of friendship Keiichi extends to him with much less weight.]

Hahaha...well, thanks for the sentiment, Keiichi. I don't know you in Hinamizawa...

[Apparently.]

...But, umm...it'd be nice to be friends here.

I agree, I'm pretty curious about you anyway. I was looking forward to meeting you back home, I suppose that meeting here isn't that bad.

[Even if Satoko is missing.]

So, tell me, how good were you?

[He was going to say baseball, because he has used that bat himself. But with that came the memory of the things that bat had been used to that weren't related to baseball, so Keiichi quickly changes his answer.]

At the club games. Did you have to dress as a maid often or not?

[...Ah. The club. So it was still around after all, then.]

Ahahaha...well, Satoko was more into it than I was. I didn't really stay a lot.

But...they were all really good. [So yes, he tended to lose. But he laughs off the memory. It was embarrassing, yes, but it made Satoko smile and sometimes he would see the fiery temper their relatives had never quite managed to beat out of her. And it would give him hope, that maybe his sister could have a happy life after all.]

I'm sure Satoko was ashamed. She was a lot better at Mion's game than me.

Yeah, them all were terrible opponents when they got into it, even Rika. Though Mion and Satoko were the worst on a normal basis, with Rena and Rika there was still some hope while they didn't get totally in the mood of ruining you.

[This actually gets him to laugh.] They really were the worst! Satoko would always scold me for doing so badly, and Mion would laugh and say Satoko had inherited all of the talent.

...Muu, I think Mion kept the worst punishments for when she knew I was staying. She was so mean.

[So he says...but it's affectionately.]

Wait, you mean that they are capable of doing punishments that aren't horrible? Man, I have a hard time to believe that. I think I've lost count of how many times they have put me in frills.

[That's only because he always stayed... And he wouldn't be any better with his punishments actually.]

Ahahaha....You have a point. I guess it just seemed worse because those costumes were a better fit for girls.

I still wonder how Mion managed to get those dresses and those sizes so I could wear them. She said that it was from the store of a family member, you don't think it was a clothing store for transvestites, right?

Ahahaha...it's possible.
