Like every normal person without a doctor fetish, Sulu didn't enjoy physicals. It was that reasoning that made him ask McCoy to get him out of the way at the beginning. As far as he was concerned, the worst should be gotten out of the way as quick as possible. He would rather be doing his job, or spending time with Pavel, or working out. He would rather not be entering the med bay like he was, even if Christine worked there. She was a wonderful woman, sure, but she was still a nurse. Someone had to stick hypos in him, and it always could be her.
"Doc?" Hikaru announced himself, waiting for the inevitable. "I'm here for my physical."
Bones had obviously felt generous whilst making up the appointment rota, as he had given in to Sulu's request, placing him early in the pecking order. So when he saw him, he gave him a polite nod of his head, and pointed back to a bio-bed. He'd go through the basics with him first, leaving the fun stuff - for him - till last. The 'fun stuff' being the hypos.
"Nice and on time. Lets hope you set a precedent." Which he highly doubted.
"I don't exactly see the point in being late for something that's required." Sulu replied honestly with a shrug as he sat down on the bio-bed that Bones had pointed to. "I can't imagine the Captain will be too thrilled though." Oh yes, he had heard of the many adventures of Jim Kirk that featured Bones and hypos. Anyone who hadn't must have been living under a rock.
He gave a slight nod in agreement to what he said and, when Sulu sat up on the bed, he took hold of a little light, as he stepped closer.
"Reflex tests, and I want to make sure your vision is still peak," he lifted his hand up then, and held up a finger. "Watch my finger," and, like a typical Doctor, he moved the light to check out his eyes as he moved his finger. "Then we'll get your heart rate checked, so shirt off after this, please," he spoke, before lowering his hand and the light, reaching for his PADD to make notes. "Seems fine so far."
As basic as reflex and vision tests were, Sulu knew exactly how important they were. Both affected how he did his job, and any deterioration was unacceptable. McCoy was damn right that his vision and reflexes seemed fine. He was still in his prime, after all.
tugging his shirt off, Hikaru waited for him to continue in silence. McCoy was working, after all, and conversation would be pointless. The doctor didn't like him very much anyway, right? On that note...
"I hope my relationship with Ensign Chekov is proof enough that I'm not messing around with Christine." So much for not talking...
ah crap, wrong journal, ha!hesdead_jimJuly 10 2009, 13:56:00 UTC
He was happy to work in silence until he needed to ask questions. He had no problem with Sulu - he'd just had a moment where he'd questioned what he wanted from his girlfriend.
Still, as he set up the heart rate monitor, his eyebrow raised and he shot him a simple look.
"I know you're not messing around with Christine, and I know you won't do. She's... flirtacious. I just have to get used to that," he commented simply. He didn't want to talk about that anymore, so he hoped Sulu would drop it. He doubted it, though.
Hikaru couldn't help but chuckle, nodding. "She is, but it's harmless." He left it there, because there was nothing else to say. He wasn't close enough to McCoy to joke or continue on, the topic was simple enough that it didn't have to continue, and Hikaru couldn't help but pride himself the fact that he was a respectful person (most of the time). He could only reply as he had and sit patiently.
"Mmm," he agreed simply. He knew it was mostly harmless, but he had been burnt once before by a cheating woman. He found it a little harder than most others to trust, as a result.
He considered his next reply carefully though, shaking his head slowly.
"If you're asking if she has come for her physical, you know I can't discuss that. As for seeing her outside of my medical bay, no. But I intend to." Because Nyota meant a great deal to him.
If there was anyone Sulu knew who could take care of herself, it was Nyota Uhura. He had known her too long to expect anything less than the most self-sufficient behavior. On the other hand, he had never seen her react the way she had, never seen her so vulnerable, and it worried him immensely.
"I just want to know if she's alright." Sulu stated honestly, "I haven't had time to go see her off-shift."
"Doc?" Hikaru announced himself, waiting for the inevitable. "I'm here for my physical."
Those were evil, evil words.

And then something else came to mind.
"Have you seen Uhura yet?"
