WHO: Christine Chapel; Jim Kirk (OPEN/INCOMPLETE) WHAT: Kirk relies on Chris's talented hands. Y'know. To treat his cut. WHEN: After taking off from the starbase. WARNINGS: None as of yet. ( Doctor, doctor, gimme the news, I gotta... )
Kirk felt kinda queasy when he felt the first prick of a needle through his skin, patching him up efficiently...but he had never liked needles. Needles were worse than hyposprays. Luckily, he'd been given a pain reliever and a numbing agent, but he could still feel the sharp instrument pull through his flesh and sew him up neatly.
As far as Bones was concerned -- Kirk could be protective. Being his best friend gave him the right, and Kirk just wasn't sure that Chris knew just what she was in for. Bones was an awesome kind of guy, trustworthy and good to go to, despite however gruff he was about how he handled things. Kirk knew enough about The Ex to want to make sure that Chris didn't accidently treat him the same way -- didn't take him for granted. Because Bones deserved a hell of a lot more than that. Kirk finally opened his eyes when she spoke again, making a pointed attempt not to look at his hand.
"I'm not implying that you will treat him wrong, or anything," He murmured, hoping that hadn't come out wrong. "Just saying he's -- good. Hell of a lot of women out there I bet wishing they had him back, or something." He shrugged his other shoulder, hoping not to impede with her skillful hands. Bones still seemed kind of ...new at this whole thing as well, at least when it came to Christine. Kirk could've likened it to puppy love, just considering how they talked about each other.
"Deserves a hell of a lot, y'know?" He muttered, closing his eyes again and leaning back. "Even if you don't have a lot of -- experience in that department, I just wanted to make sure you don't...yank him around or anything." Whatever. He had done his whole thing about not really wanting Bones to get hurt or anything. He was done now, and he didn't want to sound awkward anymore.
"So," He started, attempting to think of something else to talk about. "Why'd you go into medicine?" That worked. Nice, safe, and she could talk without Kirk feeling...awkward.
