Who: Charlene Masters and Christine Chapel Where: Medical Bay When: Sometime prior to the away mission Warnings: Awkwardness, talk of safe sexual practices
"Great," Charlene replied, feeling slightly more at ease when the nurse smiled back at her. Chapel had such a sweet face, that it was hard for Charlene to imagine any kind of negative reaction out of her. Of course, Charlene wasn't always the best at reading people- that whole shit storm with David being case in point- so she made sure that her usual walls were still in place.
Charlene took a second to search for words, but they were, as always elusive. She knew there had to be a tactful way to talk about these things, but tact had never been a strong point of hers. Eventually she just decided to come out with it in the plainest way possible, because there really was not better way. "So, I was wanting to get on some kind of birth control, please," she said, the phrasing that had been slightly awkward in her head even more awkward when voiced. "Since I've decided to do that whole sleeping with men thing again, I thought it might be a good idea."
Shifting her weight from foot to foot, Charlene knew that if her skin was lighter, she would be blushing up a storm. She knew it was silly to still be so uncomfortable about talking about this kind of stuff. Especially since she didn't feel the same way with her family and friends, where she delighted in making them slightly uncomfortable with dirty details. Maybe it was the fact that Nurse Chapel wasn't one of those handful of people she would joke with and the official nature of asking medical personnel for something that would make her having lots of sex less likely to result in things like babies

Charlene was an astrophysicist, hell, she almost had a doctorate in her field, but medical shit just went over her head. All the words sounded similar to her and incomprehensible. "I'm just gonna take your word for it, because I honestly couldn't tell you if it was depowhatthehellever or any other ridiculous 10 dollar word it is. I really didn't think about it all that much. Though I do remember the hyposprays

Charlene sighed. "So I guess I'm doomed to be more hormonal than usual, huh?" Smiling, she continued, "Well, if you start getting an influx of engineering ensigns complaining about abuse, I'll blame it on you and your fancy hyposprays

Charlene found herself frowning lightly. "Does that mean I have to talk to Dr. McCoy about all this? Because I honestly think the guy doesn't like me...like at all." She sighed, drumming her fingers against her thigh nervously. "I mean, showing up late to my physical didn't help, but there was some serious dislike going on. Beyond that. Though I guess it's hard to tell with the doctor, since I guess he doesn't like much of anyone, as far as I can tell..." God, she was getting in full on babble mode. But the doctor seriously got to her with his obvious dislike just barely under the surface the entire time she had been around him
