Rating: PG-13 for swearing and sexual content
Pairing and Characters: Kirk/McCoy, Chris Pike, Spock, Nyota, Gary Mitchell, and Uncle Frank

He's a delinquent, inconsiderate of the other's feelings, and breaks the law on a semi- daily basis. The planet he lives on is almost identical to Earth but is not uninhabited. The humanoid aliens that live there are not hostile, at the time the story takes place, but the humans and aliens are segregated because of past confusion and war.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters. All the events that occur are purely fictional.

“You are insane, man,” Gary said shaking his head, “F-U-C-King insane.”
Sometimes I imagine he’d probably look like a puppy if he crawled around shaking his curls like that all the time.

“Whatever, Gary.” I ripped the empty wrapper I was holding and then threw it over my shoulder.

“Hey what the fuck are you doing?”

“Walking, what does it look like I’m doing?” And then I was interrupted with Nyota and her posse of plastics who decided to be in my way.

“Polluting the planet with not only the garbage that comes out of your mouth.” Nyota replied smartly flicking her hair back in the process.

“Is this your way of saying you want in my pants?” I pictured her topless and moaning.

She just pulled a face and stepped back.

“Hey don’t walk away now! I’ll even let you suck it for free.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“That’s true.” I pulled out my cellphone from my pocket: 20.50 flashed back at me, “Dammit, where does the time fly.”

“Backwards, when you talk like that.” Gary laughed at his joke.

“Yeah… okay, I’ll catch you later.” I turned and started jogging in the opposite direction.

“Hey! Where are you going now?”

I ignored him and picked up my pace. I’d have to run to get back in time for sunrise if I wanted to make my detour.

It’s not easy, but if you know the right people you can score right and come out looking just like the ‘infestation’.

I found a free public toilet and swallowed the pill. It’s not instant so I sat down after pulling the toilet cover down. It helps if you breathe in and out and avoid scratching as long as possible. Eventually though, the crawling under your skin gets to be too much and you start attacking your body with your nails. This time, I held out for thirty seconds.

When it was over, I found myself on the floor but I was able to breathe right again. I looked at my reflection in the mirror to make sure it was complete and found a purple replicate of myself staring back. I smiled and found sharper canines shining back. Good stuff.

Before getting out the bathroom, I pulled my hood up and lifted my backpack a little higher on my shoulders.

I found a long line of Violets crowding the entrance to Opposite. It’s easy to insert myself into the crowd during rush hour so I usually have no trouble going in… it’s usually harder in the going out - especially if the batch I’d taken was especially strong and I don’t change back by sunrise.

“All right. Keep it moving.” A soldier nearby yelled. His face was covered by the shadow of his helmet. I pulled my hood even lower in case it was Uncle Frank. Next time, I’d bring a cap.

They don’t even try to hide the difference between this world and Opposite. Once you reach Opposite, you’re no longer stepping on hard pavement but soft ground and little tufts of worn grass. The change is so immediate that Violets are always tripping on the way out of Opposite. I trip on the way in.

You’d think that’d be a big giveaway but figuring that I’m probably some long limbed awkward teenager, it’s normal- that, or I read into things too much. It’s hard not to, when you’re a walking lie.

In any case, I’m back in the desolate Opposite and it’s almost like the wind is louder on this side.

“Jim!”

I smiled turning to the voice. It was Radich running towards me and flailing his arms like a maniac.

“What’s up, man?”

He laughed and gave me a huge hug, almost carrying me off the ground.

“First of all, I’m not man,” He grinned hugely at that, “ and second of all, where were you! We thought the Others got to you.” His smile wavered a little.

“Nah!” I puffed up my chest, “Like they could take someone like me down.”

This made Radich laugh even louder than before.

“Come on! We’re just about to have dinner!” And he pulled my hand.

It was nice to be back after skipping so many days. The bonfire flickered at me and I took that as its hello.

“Everyone!” Radich began to yell.

“Keep it down, Radich.” I looked around the area but the rest of the Violets were busy with their own bonfires, their own laundry, and their own lives- but best of all, they were all loud.

I recognized Terranova on one of the benches by the fire. She’s also someone who likes to alternate between both worlds. She smiled at me then went back to the conversation she was having with a Violet I didn’t know.

“Jim!” I smiled, getting used to the yelling again only to be victim to a constricting hug by Galia.

“Hey, Galia!” I hugged her back then stepped back to observe the new color in her hair, “Orange?”

“It was a mistake! It was supposed to be red…”

“I like it.”  I said, trying my best not to scrunch my face.

She laughed and told me that I was too kind.

“Anyway!” Radich piped up again from the other side of the bonfire. “Let’s put some music!”

I took a deep breath then grinned.

“Hey Jim… Jim.”

I lifted my head from the desk to see Gary staring at me intently.

“What?”

“Are you mad about the comment I made yesterday?”

I scrunched up my face.

“No, what the fuck.”

“Oh,” he smiled in relief, “ I didn’t know, you just didn’t talk to me yet and I figured…”

“No, geez, Gary,” I ran my hands through my hair trying to wake myself up from the small nap I was having on the school desk. “If I didn’t know any better I’d think you were gay for me.” Then I made a face.

His smile twisted into a frown. Shit.

I held back a yawn and said, “You know I didn’t mean it that way.”

“You’re a jerk you know that?” He said loudly as he walked back to his desk.

Just then Mr.Spock walked in effectively silencing the class.

“I trust everyone submitted their essay online last night.”

He got a collective chorus of “yes, Mr.Spock”.

I grimaced.

“Mr.Kirk, have you failed, yet again, to turn in an important assignment?”

I sighed then racked my brain for a quick excuse.

“Well--- “

But as luck would have it, the door to the classroom slid open to reveal Principle Pike in a grey suit. I thought it was fitting. Pike didn’t really fit into my black and white perception- at times.

“Good morning group A1.”

“Good morning principle Pike.”

I started to drift away again.

“We’ve got a new student recently transported from Earth.” My head snapped back at that.

Earth? That’s interesting. People don’t transport so late into the year, let alone in highschool. You’re born on Earth then transported a year later or just born here. I was the only exception, born in space and lived on Earth for five years.

The class started to talk more actively again- probably as curious as I was. Mr.Spock raised his hand, though, as a signal for silence and the class was quiet again.

“He was just signing some papers,” Pike continued, “ But he’ll be --- ah there he is.” Pike turned a little to face the door and waved the Earthy in.

A guy with dark hair walked in. His skin was a healthy shade of tan and he looked around the classroom with an air of arrogance. I furrowed my brows when I saw the girls in my peripheral vision smile to each other.

“Introduce yourself.” Mr.Spock piped up.

And as if it couldn’t get any worse, the kid rolled his shoulders, which only made his shirt tighten - and dammit he was packed. Then he smiled, exposing straight white teeth and said, “My name is Leonard McCoy.”

Leonard?

I stifled a laugh but a snort came out anyway. ‘Leonard’ turned to scowl at me.

“That is enough for one day, Mr.Kirk. You may spend the remainder of the class outside.”

“But I didn’t even---“

“Now.” And I could have sworn his Vulcan face got greener. Fucking booger of a teacher.

****
“He kicked you out of class again?” Radich said eyebrows rising, “Vulcans don’t sound nice.”

I laughed at that and kicked a rock by my shoes. Shoes I needed to get replaced soon. I moved to the edge of the bench and bent down to start messing with the rubber bit that was hanging out.

“Well maybe if you bothered doing your work every now and then he wouldn’t be so testy, Jim.” Terranova spoke up from her seating on the dry dusty ground.

“Ugh not you too. I get enough of that ‘advice’ from U-whore-a. “ That pulled out a smile from Terranova and a confused look from Radich.

“She’s this girl in my classroom who thinks she’s always right about everything.” I explained.

“Ahh,” Radich said, smiling- then he winked, and said, “You like people who boss you around, I know, I’m your friend.”

My eyes widened at that. “No!”

But it was too late; Terranova was already in stitches with laughter. I shook my head.

The change back is always worse than the change to. The toilets in Opposite didn’t smell any better than the ones back in Green and I always find myself gagging as I change back. Today’s especially bad though. I clutched the edges of a white sink and tried to breathe in and out slowly.

“Jim, you ready yet?” Terranova yelled from outside, “It’s gonna get light soon, what’s taking you so long?”

What is taking me so long? I peeked at the mirror again. Still purple.

My head hurts.

Another gag.

“Oh God.” I whispered to the porcelain while I rested my sweaty forehead on the cool surface.

“Jim! For goodness sake! You can take a shit back home but we really gotta go now!”

I bit my bottom lip as a new wave of itch ran over my body. Must have been bad pills. Bad pills. Bad pills. I threw up onto the floor. Shit.

“Look. I’m going now okay? I can’t risk it…. Jim? Come on… shit, I can see the sun. I’m leaving.”

No no no no no.

Don’t leave me.

Bad pills. It’s only bad pills. I need a hypo.

Hypo me. Hypo me.

And then there was black.
