Warnings: Is based on the events of the rebooted movie, so plenty of character deaths, violence, relationship issues, and general angst. Also some swearing by the usual suspects.
Summary: Even though Jim and Spock have been happily dating for a year, Jim still can't get a break. Working hard to graduate, he is also attempting to be the first to pass his boyfriend's stupid test, the infamous Kobiyashi Maru, and deal with the fact that said boyfriend is ditching him to serve aboard the Enterprise under his ex. Awkward. After hacking said test as a form of revenge and being called on the carpet by both the Academy and his boyfriend for it, Jim and Spock suddenly find themselves with much bigger fish to fry. Disaster strikes the planet Vulcan, and it is suddenly up to them and the untested, fledgling crew of the Enterprise to save the day. Sequel to my STBB fic from last year, Shut Up and Deal, but is set up as a standalone story which merges the events and relationships of my previous story into the events and situations of the movie.
