In my head, this is part one of a trilogy which will ultimately be Kirk/Spock, but it stands alone and any sequels will be at least a few months in coming.
Summary: Iowa is a cage with invisible chains, and Jim is living in captivity. (Or, The Epic Tale of James Tiberius Kirk, from the ages of 5 to 22.)
