Seems most fans on that site want an entire 2 years between the first movie and this one. I definitely don't, because what I'm most interested in is seeing how everyone GETS to know each other. If we go into 2 years later, we miss out on a lot of bonding and a lot of Kirk's personal growth as a captain, imo. DNW.
Hmm, I kinda see where you're coming from. But I kind of...don't want like a reshash of old an old TOS episode made into a movie and stretched out, if that makes sense, and that's what I'm worried will happen if they jump ahead too far. I wouldn't mind that for a third movie, maybe, but I don't want them jumping IMMEDIATELY to that point.
Like I said above, I think they are working with a really small jump, if any. I just hope that between juggling an ensemble of 7 plus whatever expected additions (villains, side characters, etc) they have enough time to make Kirk and Spock really connect.
Same :( The thing is, what really matters to me in this one is everyone's relationships, you know? If they get that right, if that's interesting and well-done, I can forgive a lot. That's all I want, really.
UGH FAIL, REPOSTING, SRY ABOUT YOUR INBOX :(inbootsMarch 29 2011, 04:45:36 UTC
lol I'm in a much more delicate position because I legit don't care about any of the major relationships other than Kirk-Spock. (I mean, I'd be all over Kirk-Scotty, Kirk-Sulu, Kirk-Scotty-Sulu hijinks with added Chekov, but it won't happen because Scotty, Chekov and Sulu aren't major players.)
The funny thing is that I don't even really ship them in a romantic way, I just don't think any of the other characters have enough weight in them to make for really compelling stuff. I suppose they could add weight to them and all, but seriously. 2 hr action movie. How many main players can be juggled?

My inbox is used to it, don't even worry about it~ (I do it all the time too).
Anyway, I'm concerned about two things: getting the Kirk/Bones friendship right, cause I loved their buddy relationship in the movie, and I'm worried about how they will handle Spock/Uhura, because I don't ship it in the least but oh god if it's bad, the wank will be endless (it's already going to suck but it will be worse. And I will cut them if they try any love triangle bullshit, oh my god). We haven't really seen how they handle the entire group together, so I don't know how they're going to go about it, IF they're going to go about it, etc etc.
I'm just concerned about a lot of things - I mean it wasn't even specifically the script not being done that makes me concerned, I've always wondered how they would handle this entire movie from the second the first one ended. We'll see, I guess :/
I don't care for them at all and am trying my best to mentally prepare myself to NOT resent them when precious time is spent on them standing around doing nothing. Basically. :|

I fear they won't.
