sniff

Tonight, despite yesterday and today being characterized by nausea-inducing migraines, I went to see a live broadcast of King Lear from the Donmar theatre in London.

I've never seen King Lear performed before, although I studied it in class, but it wasn't one I read over and over for paper-mining purposes. I didn't really go into it with preconceived notions, but anyone who's ever had the misfortune of seeing a play or movie with me knows I can be grumpy and critical as hell.

I ended up with tears streaming down my cheeks by the end of the play, which makes proper critic a bit difficult. I think the uncontrollable tears are at least a sign of an emotionally powerful performance, though.

(Minimalist King Lear is the best King Lear.)
