THEY AREN'T

Last night I had a dream that I found so scary, I didn't want to go back to sleep, in case it continued.

It was about Twin Peaks!

After the fact, I'm having trouble remembering why, exactly, it was so unusually terrifying, but good lord did it frighten me.

Laura Palmer was still alive, but everyone knew she was going to die, and that BOB was going to kill her. And that BOB was possessing Leland. But! They knew if they just prevented Laura from doing this one thing, she would be able to live!

The thing she had to be prevented from doing was something -really- everyday, though. Like, she couldn't go on a date with James, I think. So Donna and Mrs. Palmer were constantly coming up with reasons Laura couldn't go out with her secret boyfriend or things she could do instead, and it was working and driving BOB insane(r). But crazy psychic Mrs. Palmer knew it couldn't last, but she wasn't sure when Laura would finally be killed, so every morning she made Laura's favourite breakfast, believing it might be her last meal, and crying over her pancakes.

/Every morning/.

Eventually, Leland started stalking people's pets to satisfy BOB's bloodlust. He was particularly interested in killing Ivan.

He was also taking raw, frozen meat out of freezers, gnawing off bits, and leaving it scattered and thawing on the ground as some kind of warning against people prying into his relationship with Laura.

And then I woke up and /could not/ go back to sleep, because, in that weird post-dream way, I knew that if I went back to sleep, Laura would finally be killed and I'd have to watch the whole thing.

It was creepier than the dream where Stephen King tried to kill his stoner nephew in the wheelchair.

Other things I have been up to: playing Suikoden: Tierkreis, which continues quite good, altough the difficulty could be ramped up significantly, and, uh, rereading Sandman in the wake of the terrible fantasy novel Duainfey which kind of destroyed my belief in books.

Did read Joan D. Vinge's novel Psion which was fine, but a bit too melancholy and bitter in the ending for it to be good reading material right now.

I have been mind controlled into buying No More Heroes. Also, Final Fantasy IV. These are things I have.
