million dollar

Today I blew a B&N coupon to buy Million Dollar Password, which is basically Password with a scary picture of Regis Philbin on the front. Well, and it's also like the show that briefly aired in the off-season on CBS. I actually mostly liked the new format of the show; it's faster and more engaging, I think, than the original show of yore.

This game, however, is pretty much a thrown-together piece of garbage. The rules are even mostly copied verbatim from the edition of Password I already own (it's manufactured by the same company, so I guess that makes sense), with the necessary tweaks to match the new game show. The tie-breaking rules and the bonus rounds play differently than the TV show (and especially the show's second season). I'm almost embarrassed that I know that.

The bonus round passwords are, for whatever reason, just printed plain as day on random cardboard, instead of all secretive like the Password rounds (and the original Password game). Also, since we're in the land of consumption and pointless energy use, the timer is electronic.

There are enough passwords here to play the game thirty times and then it's over. The original had enough to play maybe fifty times. I doubt I'll hit the limit for either, but limited-replay games often make me cringe.

I still want to play it soon, though.
