The state of Indiana is enacting a law to limit the days and times that fireworks are allowed to be used on private property. I think it's a great idea in theory but wonder how well the rules will be implemented. According to the law, fireworks are permitted from 5-11 pm for the five days before and five days after Independence Day, with a larger window on the day itself, and a window on New Year's Eve. Any other times, and fireworks users will be fined. I've never been a fan of fireworks, really, so yay, especially for all dogs everywhere. The poor things.
In consumerist news, did you know that Best Buy revamped their rewards program so that it's free? I'd become so used to routinely denying the magazine subscriptions and rewards program invites, too. But now, you earn a point for each dollar you spend, and you get $5 for every 250 points you amass, which works out to a 2% cash-that-can-only-be-spent-at-Best-Buy rate. Hey, I'll take it. It'll take me forever to accumulate enough points to be worth anything, though, unless video game companies start churning out some quality games, or Best Buy puts awesome CDs and DVDs on sale.
Finally, the US has extended its you-need-a-passport-to-go-to-Canada-by-land rule into September. Until then, you can also go between the countries if you provide your driver's license and your receipt that says you applied for a passport.
Ok, this was pointless, but oh well!
