Since Tomas posted his music meme answers, I suppose I should do the same. As for the line whatever of page whatever of whatever book meme, I think
I tried that once before and it didn't work very well.
First, the rest of the answers to my
twenty questions quiz from five months ago. :)
1. conjunction junction, what's your function? hooking up words and phrases and clauses [schoolhouse rock - conjunction junction]
Seriously. Who doesn't love Schoolhouse Rock? (If you don't, don't tell me. I might think differently of you.)
2. would you choose water over wine? hold the wheel and drive [incubus - drive]
On the whole, I find Incubus to be incredibly mediocre, but this is my favorite karaoke song.
3. can you take me higher? to the place where blind men see [creed - higher]
I play my entire music collection on shuffle most of the time, and this morning Creed was playing when Luke came in to work. His response, and rightly so, was "you're listening to Creed?" in the same tone of voice that you'd say "you're drinking cat vomit? My music tastes have evolved in the past five years.
4. david duchovny, why won't you love me? why won't you love me? my friends all tell me, 'girl, you know it's just a show' [bree sharp - david duchovny]
That reminds me, I never did find Bree Sharp's sophomore album.
5. if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? i'll keep you by my side with my superhuman might [3 doors down - kryptonite]
6. my dirty little secret, who has to know? when we live such fragile lives, it's the best way we survive [all-american rejects - dirty little secret]
The fact that I like the All-American Rejects is one of my dirty little secrets.
7. miss delaney, what's the matter? you waited by the window, i waited by the door [jack's mannequin - miss delaney]
Jack's Mannequin is the greatest thing to happen to 2005, honestly.
8. we never change, do we? we never learn, do we? [coldplay - we never change]
I like Coldplay less and less with each album they churn out, but this is from their first one. I'm pretty sure. I don't remember.
9. what the fuck are we going to be? please help me 'cause i'm breaking down [trapt - still frame]
10. everybody waits for you now; what happens next? what happens next? i dare you to move [switchfoot - dare you to move]
11. why do we crucify ourselves? everyday i crucify myself [tori amos - crucify]
12. do you mean what you say when you say our love could last forever? i'd rather you be mean than love and lie [vonda shepard - baby don't you break my heart slow]
13. what does it take to be a superhero in my world? make no mistake, these villains always get the girl [something corporate - straw dog]
Something Corporate is my favorite band of all time, for various reasons. Jack's Mannequin is actually the solo project of SoCo's lead singer, for those of you that know nothing about the music I listen to. :)
14. oh please, baby, won't you take my hand? we've got nothing left to prove [plain white t's - a lonely september]
The Plain White T's first album is hands down the best. The other two albums mostly sound like every other crappy pop album in existence. Tragic, really.
15. i can't tell right from the wrong; why have i been here so long? in a city of devils we live [yellowcard - city of devils]
16. has our conscience shown? has the sweet breeze blown? has all kindness gone? hope still lingers on [collective soul - the world i know]
17. can you still hear the last goodnight? and the mindless comfort grows when i'm alone with my great plans [jimmy eat world - for me this is heaven]
18. so lately, i've been wonderin': who will be there to take my place? when i'm gone, you'll need love [the calling - wherever you will go]
19. what goes on in that place in the dark? well i used to know a girl and i would have sworn that her name was veronica [elvis costello - veronica]
Totally random as far as this quiz goes. The only reason this song is on my computer is because it was on Kerstin's computer, and I'm guessing that's because this song was once karaoked on Veronica Mars.
20. what can i do for you? i can hear you [jade - real emotion]
It's from the Final Fantasy X-2 soundtrack. Don't judge me.
And here are the results of my
random meme. Weirdly enough, this is a more accurate sampling of what I like to listen to these days. Notice several repeat artists. I actually really like most of the twenty songs/artists below. Check 'em out if you've never heard of them!

I've been told there's a pretty common thread to the music that I enjoy, and I suppose that's the case. I refuse to describe it, though.
