Went to a Q&A Session with author & graphic novelist Neil Gaiman last nite (for people who don't really know the genre - like me - he is best known as the person who wrote the story for the Jim Hensen movie MIRRORMASK).
He's very intelligent and funny and it was a good evening, not to mention the fact that host Will Anderson is not exactly an ugly man... lol... But what I found most interesting was the audience - honestly I was the only person in the room wearing a colour other than shades of grey, black or brown... Just looking around made me start to think about sub-culture's in general and that essentially all sub-cultures are the same, there are certain different styles of dress, different "archetypal" characters which people then model themselves on. It was really quite fascinating to take it all in - and inspiring in a way - it is something I plan to write a piece about - not sure what form it will take yet but that's the plan.
Needless to say, I now find myself reading one of Neil Gaiman's books - AMERICAN GODS
