Mate and I are finally in an apartment together!

Last weekend, my boyfriend Steve moved from Florida to our new apartment in Arlington, Texas (suburb of Dallas) and I'm finally out from under my family. Freeeeedom! XD The time between our lease signing and me going back to work was filled with moving furniture and unpacking, so I went back to work exhausted. The apartment is in a nice area, and the place itself is nice, though we've run into some minor irritations. Apparently the post office won't deliver mail to our box at the new place until we fill out some card, and Steve and I worry they may have bounced his final bills for his utilities in Florida back to sender, which means he's gotta contact all his utilities to find out if the bills can be re-sent. And it's been a huge hassle to find the right post office. He's gonna go to it Monday, in hopes everything can get cleared up and get the PO to stop bouncing shit.

Another annoyance is the maintenance crew seems haphazard according to Steve when they finally showed up to fix the problems I noted on the move-in form. He says te guys hurried through everything and also instead of replacing our nice wooden blinds (which were damaged and would only go up halfway) with the same kind, they just stuck cheap plastic ones up. The air conditioning airflow is very slow, and they didn't even do any checks on that, and instead of cleaning out our dryer vent, they just removed the bird nest in the exhaust but didn't check the rest of the length. I may have to run a towel on a pipe or something through the duct myself when we get a washer and dryer.

Biggest issue now is the ant infestation. It's weird, because they only keep showing up in large numbers in our clothes when kept in suitcases on the ground, plus scouts around the bedroom and bathroom, but none in the kitchen where there's actual food. What e crap would make them turn down the kitchen in favor of suitcases with nothing edible in them? O.o

Exterminators can't come out till Thursday, so the management office gave us some ant baits to tide us over.

Once the postal and ant problem are taken care of, hopefully we'll be able to relax. Steve has already been exploring the shops in the surrounding area and finding neat places. I won't be back home for another week and a half, but when I get back, we're getting a washer and dryer. Using the laundromat gets quite expensive.
