That's my job description in a nutshell. Since I came back to work just before labor Day, my miles have been less than half of what I usually get. And once again, work screws up and sends me way in the opposite direction when it's coming up for time to make my way west to go home. I was in Virginia the day before yesterday finishing a load, when I get my new assignment and they have me taking a load to Eastern New York. I called them on that and let them know I needed to get my butt home and they say that I'm the only driver in the area who can run that load. I also found out the next day during a phone call with weekend shift that my boss forgot to put in the info into the computer when I came back from home time about what time I was supposed to go home next. but anyway, I deliver my load north of Albany (funny how I keep getting stuck in places named Albany lately) and I finally get my next load assignment near the end of today and they have me on a run I can't even pick up until middle of tomorrow, and it delivers to Eastern Virginia, which is definitely not in the direction of Texas. I'm getting a little fed up with having my week off cut to less than a week. This is happening more and more. The gay pride parade is in Dallas the weekend I'm home, but if I only am able to have four days instead of seven, I may not have time to go. :p
