Masami Teraoka

I was one of a handful of students selected to speak with visiting artist Masami Teraoka about my art in a private one-on-one meeting.

This is pretty cool for a multitude of reasons. Here are a couple of those reasons: 1) He is an AWESOME artist. 2) This means my mentor and the other teachers nominating students have observed thoughtful things coming from me and felt I would benefit from the experience.

Anyhow, I get to do this visit just before our Junior Reviews begin. I printed the first half of Maurice Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception and I am about to brew some jasmine tea and grab my highlighter for a quiet evening of study on the topic my art focuses on.

Has anyone else here used ebrary.com? I like it; the notion of free literature that you can have an interaction with (highlighting, notes, saving books for later, etc.) is very exciting for those of us book lovers who simply cannot afford to buy all of the books we read, but I am also annoyed by the fact that printing is limited to certain quantities of the books and you cannot print the whole thing at once - you have to print three or four pages at a time. They don't let you "save" the book pages, either, so you're just kind of left with having to page through and print.

Tomorrow my mom and dad's neighbor is giving me two $700 floor lamps for my apartment. She has impeccable taste, so I am looking forward to adding some big, fancy stuff to my pad.
