OHMAN. Science is DONE. Radio play is DONE. Piano exam is almost done. This needs to be celebrated somehow.
Anyway.
I started a novel. And I better finish it. Seriously, I will not let myself quit this time. I may post excerpts...once things get going. Honestly though, I need to finish this.
Moving on though, however...to Escaflowne drabble!! YEEEAY. Not very good, but I tried, didn't I?
Eryn wasn't anything like Hitomi. And that was precisely why he married her. Van knew it was foolish to try and replace Hitomi. How could he, when she was so fresh in his mind? But he could love her all the same.
He didn't want to, but he tried to push Hitomi as far out of his mind as he could. He was King, he was expected to return Fanelia to it's former brilliance, wasn't he? So he forgot about her for the moment, and saw only his new wife, and his kingdom. Eryn was beautiful. Not in the boyish way that Hitomi sparkled, but classically so, with long dark hair and grey eyes that flashed. She was loud and energetic, with an infectious laugh, not subdued and shy. She would never second guess herself. She was everything Hitomi wasn't. So he loved her for it.
But he had promised never to forget Hitomi and so he didn't. He thought about her in the dark, when all other thoughts had been chased away. When Eryn lay beside him, breathing softly, hair tousled down her pale, bare back. He wants to love her and only her, but he has more honour than that. He will never go back on his word.
He shut his eyes and pictured her face, fleetingly. Had she grown her hair now? How would she look? His stomach churned at the thought of her looking any different than she had when she had left; he wished he didn't fear change so much.
Hitomi had said that they would still be connected, she had promised. But nothing was that perfect, and if they had been connected at first they had already drifted apart over time. But when it came down to it, he still missed her. His first love. Of course.
Eryn sighed in her sleep and Van's eyes snapped open, flicking over to his wife, who turned over to face him, sleeping soundly, lips slightly parted. He edged closer to her, bringing his lips to her neck and pulling her closer.
It was enough, he hoped.
