ok I only wrote 600 words but never mind that, my brain feels like mush already. speaking of mush, this
strawberry butter looks delicious...
Finally settled in (I hope -w-). I had no internet for quite a while. (Well, I did have internet if you count going across the road to the local pub and leeching wifi with a coffee while frantically sourcing pdfs from e-journals.) It is a common ailment of students moving to a new flat, see also
nomnomnim and
edohsama. twitter for blackberry's interface actually put me off accessing twitter...
I drew the following back in May for the
1920s anthology, contains some free interpretation of historical events so do be warned. It is pretty much 2 sets of 2 people sitting down talking to each other at different cafés.
Notes
1. Takes place about 1920-1921.
2. Treaty of Trianon - signed 4th June 1920. Hungary lost 70% of her former territory.
3. Hungary was put under international isolation for a few years.
4. Alexandru Averescu, Ion I.C. Brătianu - Romanian politicians. Romania achieved independence from Hungary due to the provisions of the Treaty of Trianon.
5. Fiume - present-day Rijeka, Croatia. It had an 88% ethnic Italian population, so Italy pressed the Allies occupying the city to cede it to them. However, at the same time, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes were also laying claim to the city.
6. In 1919, Austria and the Allies signed the Treaty of Saint-Germain, which forbade political/economic union between Austria and Germany and set down the official dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Earlier, on 31st October 1918, Hungary had already terminated the union with Austria.
7. "Only connect .... live in fragments no longer" - from Howards End by E.M. Forster, also inscribed on the monument to him at Rooks Nest, his former home. (oops, what I assumed was his grave was really a monument. OTL)
When I was editing it for web view I had to reread it and it's .. it's quite.. boring and cheesy orz not just because of the "plot" but also /wristing some of the panels where I was clearly rushing and couldn't be arsed to draw properly :/
nevertheless, good learning experience. up till this comic I didn't realise that I didn't know how classy men sat, so I had trouble drawing Germany and Austria.
/dumping to be continued at a later date
