Yesterday, I went clothes-and-shoe-shopping for the first time in a long time. After trekking around Covent Garden, Seven Dials, and Oxford Street, I have come to the conclusion that British summer fashion this year seems to consist of extremely loud Hawaiian/Indian prints, chunky beads and World Cup T-shirt prints.

(Also, in aforementioned T-shirt prints, the English continue to relive their 4-2 victory over Germany - in the 1966 World Cup.)

I shall watch England's progress in the 2010 World Cup with sadistic cynicism interest!

**BEGIN GROSS ADVERTISING BIT**

1.
1920s anthology thing!

I was completely surprised to be asked to participate. It's like ... I'm not half as good as many of the people in the participant list! and I won't be able to help pull customers you know!! As evidenced by my injudicious use of exclamation marks!!!! In any case I'll be putting my contribution up in August for all to see and pick out historical discrepancies at.

2.
2011 Akuyuu calendar organised by hakuku!

Another thing which I did not anticipate being asked to contribute to. Full of other more talented/reliable people. As usual will post full version after Haku's done with AX!

**END OF GROSS ADVERTISING**

Yeaahhh due to this and school, I didn't finish many other fandom things I was previously working on (especially the fr/uk ones) Previews of my stuff under the cut along with some other junk.

prelim doodling:

these are the colonnades flanking the cour d'honneur of Sanssouci Palace, Potsdam.
aka. Old Fritz's summer pad. (we went there in the dead of winter, everything covered with snow, with a young blizzard nipping at our heels, but that's another story.)
the time period in this pic is after 1871 (since germany is around), probably during the time of Wilhelm I, German Emperor. (poor) explanation for hat: prussia found it rooting around in an old summerhouse. speaking of prussia, i don't like how I drew prussia, never mind there's too many things I don't like about what I did to the picture.

but right now i'm really hating on backgrounds and my cg in general ahahahhahahahahahh now no one will want to invite me to contribute anything ever again!! /rips hair out
many thanks to ameru, taipoh, firnheledien, hakuku, panthael_angel, chikotori, wamyne for opinions and browbeating.
i'll make update sketch with REAL SHADOWS when i go home and have space/stuff to make a model+shine light on it...

headcanon: when he was young, Ludwig did all of Gilly's chores fully believing that there was no better vocation in the world than Helping Out Brother. (Polishing his hessians was a signal honour.)

Pointless Austria doodle #??

"Look-- look well, o wolves!"
The Jungle Book. I like the Disney version, but I love the original books - they're much grittier and more full of law of the jungle. My favourites are Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, Servants of the Queen and The Miracle of Purun Bhagat.
When I was young, the only things I drew were animals, humans were Satan-spawn to my eight-year-old mindset '3'

The Danish coat of arms was actually designed some time in the 12th century, before the Kalmar Union period.

Next post: most likely St George pic that I had to sit on for forever, because of the previous projects. Maybe kelpies. I've been printing lots of kelpies lately.
I should also remember to draw entry for what_the_fruk challenge cycle before running off to Paris. (Again.)
