adventures in tablet pressureland

Apr 25, 2009 01:01

I have been fiddling with the idea of trying out Paint Tool SAI for a while now, having heard rave reviews and seen rave-r fanart, so about 5 hours ago I downloaded the trial version and began poking about.

So, extreme chagrin and despair, &c., &c., when the discovery came that SAI couldn't detect pressure sensitivity on my tablet.

4+ hours of troubleshooting later:

1. Reinstalling drivers does not work
2. Restarting the tablet service thing, to the best of my knowledge, does not work
3. It is a known bug so perhaps I should stop agonizing and go back to oC already
4. The changing the value of '0' to '1' thing in the misc.ini file does not work
5. Apparently the dudes at Systemax don't exactly know why or how themselves
6. Is this some kind of punishment to do with the fact that I'm using a Mac :(
7. w/e there is this used graphire4 going for £0.99 on ebay maybe I should try that
8. If all else fails there is always oC

The offshoot of this is: Pen pressure on my tablet does not work in SAI. It however works on every other program including oC, Painter and PS. Tablet in question is a venerable 6x8 intuos2 which has served me faithfully for 6+ years.

Sorry wamyne I missed our "let's try p-chat again" appointment :(

Ah, at this rate, I'm going to have to finish my projecting tomorrow and reserve Sunday for postcard manufacturing.

I will now recommence weeping and murmuring brokenly onto chikotori's shoulder. Until she goes to bed, that is. Then I will curl up into a sullen ball and lick my wounds attempt to write light witticisms in the Woosterian style, maybe that will brighten my outlook.

return me to the pcs of yore, o wai sai
